Grace’s 4th Birthday Party

26-Mar-08: On Grace’s 4th birthday… Gracie, Eva & Mommy made cup cakes for Grace to take to her friends at Brenda’s. Grace was so cute, she wanted to be in charge of cooking them, didn’t want Mommy’s help – she stirred everything, helped put them in the cups (licked the bowl!) and then even iced them. Some of her cup cakes had more icing than cake, but hey she did it herself. I can’t believe my little girl is FOUR – crazy how fast it’s gone. And she’s such a cute four, sweet, smart, inquisitive :-)

3/23/08: Grace's birthday party w/ my family (Rick, Vickie & of course Nanni, Poppy & Uncle Rob) - we also did Rick's birthday then too! Since he will be 55 on 3/24... Grace loved the presents she got from Nanni/Poppy, Uncle Rob and Rick & Vickie. Below are pics of Grace opening their presents & her budding up to Uncle Rick!

Sugar Bugs

23-Mar-08: Grace wanted to eat candy before bed, and I told her no b/c there are “sugar bugs” in the candy that can cause cavities. She said, “Yeah – they might have a party in my mouth.” So I agreed – hey Nanni & Poppy told me everything was “MAGIC” and I turned out okay, right?

20-Mar-08: Note from Brenda, “I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I wrote Grace's name on the back of the paper that she colored and asked her to write it herself. She did the G and skipped a few and did the C so I showed her the R A E and then I asked her to do it herself. SHE DID IT!! I told her mommy will be so proud of her. She is so excited!! She had to show Jarod when he came downstairs. Of course, Breanna isn't up yet. But she will be so proud too. Especially since she worked with her on it.”

19-Mar-08: last night Grace talked to Ella on the phone and asked her where her daddy was and Ella kept saying "tanning salon" and Grace kept looking at the phone funny and saying "he doesn't have panties on?" its funny b/c if you say them out loud they sound similar:-)

St. Patrick’s Day... I'm going to PINCH you

17-Mar-08: St. Patrick’s Day – Uncle Rob came home and told Grace he was going to pinch her b/c she didn’t have green on… well, Grace has taken this and applied it every day, she is now telling me, “Mom you don’t have “a butterfly shirt on, white shoes, pink, you name it!” I’m going to pinch you!” She loves it – but doesn’t apparently understand that it’s just GREEN and only on St. Patty’s Day.

Grace's 1st bike

15-Mar-08: Grace got her 1st bike today at Bicycle Garage of Indy BGI – an early gift for her 4th birthday! She’s even mastered riding it w/ the training wheels on!

When Grace came home w/ her new bike she road it in the garage, Uncle Rob came put w/ Bella. Uncle Rob was sitting w/ Bella next to him, when Bella – like a frog eating a fly, snapped out and took a bite out of the streamers attached to Grace’s bike! Daddy started laughing b/c Rob’s face went WHITE – Rob said, “didn’t see that coming!” and Grace started yelling, “Bella ripped my bike!” while Bella sat there like a cat who’d just gotten caught eating a canary. Since the bike & Grace were not hurt it was very comical!
We told Grace that she HAD to wear her helmet when she rides her bike so that she doesn’t fall down and hurt her head like Uncle Kyle did (he fell and had to get stitches). If you ask Grace why she has to wear her helmet she will tell you, “I have to wear my helmet so my BRAINS don’t fall out!” I guess it’s sort of the same idea, right? I mean in a 4 year old mind!

Grace and Bubble Gum

Mar-2008: We were sitting @ dinner when Grace said, “oh no Mom, I got gum on my ‘class dance dress’” I look down and she has a HUGE glob of gum on the skirt of her brand new leotard! I was so mad I said, “I have to leave for a minute.” When I returned Grace is dancing around naked in the kitchen while Nanni worked on getting the gum out – luckily she was able to make it look almost like new. I later asked Grace how she got her gum on her skirt, she said, “I was trying – emphases on trying, to blow a bubble”.
