H A L L O W E E N ! ! !

For Halloween Gracie dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ and Eva was an angel. Both girls looked so cute! Mom helped me, okay so mom made most of Grace’s costume and I helped (a little!) but she had the ruby red slippers and her little basket w/ Toto, she was so cute! And Eva made the sweetest little angel, with her little fro of curls making her halo complete. Halloween isn’t Matt’s favorite holiday by far but we had a great time tricker-treating. The weather was great. We made our rounds to the select houses and then wrapped things up by going to Nanni’s for chili where we let the girls eat and hand out candy to the kids still out. It was a GREAT night!

Grace’s First Sleep Over...

Grace’s friend Macey (7) had a birthday party sleep over the weekend before but Grace was getting over the flu and it was outside, so just asking for trouble. So since we didn’t let Grace go we told Grace to make up for it she could have Macey over to our house, not as good as going but a nice second place. Macey came around 5:00 p.m. and the girls – Eva included had a great time! They played dress up, house, barbies, babies, oh my – not even sure what else. I didn’t even see them again until at least 6:30 p.m. when the pizza arrived. It was so funny b/c my little 5 year old who hardly eats anything had to try and match Macey slice for slice! Every time Macey said she’d like more, Grace would chime in and said she did too! We finally started cutting Grace’s smaller. I thought for sure they would be sick, but apparently not, they just turned into a boys football team while playing dress up. After that they danced to Hannah Montana on the wii and did gymnastics.

I was worried about having Macey but she was so well behaved if I could have sent anyone home it would have been Grace! Every once in a while you would hear, Eva say, “Mommy Gracie has such-and-such, or Gracie’s doing such-and-such” and when I would tell Grace we don’t do that she would be like “O-K”. I’m sure soon they will tell Eva you can’t play w/ us – my little snitch! But so far so good, the big girls even let Eva sleep on an air mattress in “Grams” room with them, now of course not the same bed as they were in but Eva was still happy – I think the happiness wore off around 2:30 a.m. when she came crying downstairs to sleep w/ me!

Both girls were tired the next day, but Grace tried to blame it on that “trick-er treating stuff”, I was like yeah right – ha!

Halloween Party at Grace's school...

Today I volunteered to help Grace’s class w/ their Halloween Party. It as tons of fun, the party started at 2:00 p.m. just me and another mom. Grace was so cute; when I got there she waved and smiled at me. The two teachers each had a table and each mom, and we would help a small group of kids do an activity. I had the black paint, and was to show them how to make spiders w/ their palm and fingers – I almost think I was messier than the kids! But it was fun, I got so many hugs:-) It was also nice to put a name w/ a face, Grace is always coming home talking about so-and-so and this was the first time I actually got to see them.

Grace left w/ me after the party and we went to pick up Eva, and get ready for (drum roll please…..) her FIRST sleep over! I know I’m crazy, what was I thinking???

A loose tooth!

OMG - I can't believe it my baby has a loose tooth, she can't be old enough to have her teeth start to fall out. Makes me feel like she's growing up way to fast! It's on the bottom, center on the right. It's funny b/c for the longest time she would stick gum over her tooth, her tough, or even imagine the spaces between her teeth were big enough, and exclaim, "I lost a tooth!" and sometimes I think even she believed it! But the day has finally come she has a lose one, I wonder how long it will take before it falls out????

Now Eva's sick...

Of course last weekend Grace was sick so it only makes sense that Eva would be sick, right? They think Eva has h1n1 too, so back to the pharmacy for tama flu again – good thing we have good insurance! Eva’s cough seems worse than Grace’s did – the cough is what worries me w/ the potential for pneumonia.

OMG!

Matt came home from work today w/ his new suit and wanted to show it off. He was in the process of putting it on when Eva who is always rummaging through his closet found a butterscotch disk, she somehow got it opened – no clue if she asked or not, generally Matt would always break all hard candy into pieces if the girls were lucky enough to get any. But that didn’t happen tonight. So Eva and Grace each have a piece of candy, and Eva is in Matt’s closet hiding/playing, and comes out red faced, trying to cough – but not clearing air. Matt and I were both feet away from her, asking her if she was able to breath – and she is shaking her head NO turning red, all you could hear was an awful wheezing. Matt turned her upside down and started hitting her back, finally she threw up and the disk came out – vomit everywhere, all over the shirt Matt had planned on wearing. Poor Eva, red faced and scared, I was in tears, Grace was in tears, and we were all so scared. Her voice sounded awful, it TERRIFIES me to think what could have happened!

h1n1...

Grace came home from school today saying she had a headache, which is very unusual for her. I gave her some Tylenol, but durning the night she was up w/ a temp. Took her to the doctor the following morning and they tested her for h1n1 and she tested negative, but had all the symptoms so they said she had it - ick! Eva was home w/ me too, didn't want to take a chance of her having it and getting everyone at Brenda's sick, so I had both girls, if we don't all get it we'll be lucky!

Mom got Gracie several old movies, she has watched Benji over and over - if we aren't watching Benju we are watching Popeye! I think I'd take Benji over Popeye any day - probably a toss up for Grace, she loves old movies.

Learning to tie her shoe...

Learning to tie her shoe... Grace came home from school today and said Quenisha taught her how to tie her shoe. I wasn't so sure about this b/c we've tried before and it just ends up being a knot, but Grace showed me and she DID IT! Way to go Quenisha! I was so proud of Grace - still need to get a video of her doing it for the record book:-)

Scary masks....

Today at Brenda's apparently Breanna dressed up as a WITCH (but you could clearly tell it was Breanna). I guess Eva was terrified, Brenda said she was so scared she shook and cried - bless her heart! I hadn't told Brenda that masks scare her, I didn't even think about it, but when Grace wears a kitten mask it scares her.

She's talked about the scary mask for days now!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to the Pumpkin Patch at Stoney Creek in Noblesville. I personally, along w/ the girls, LOVE going to the Pumpkin Patch. I think I almost crave anything that can be a "family tradition", Mom says it is b/c my Dad never liked doing those things (so even as a child I wanted the tradition). But that's beside the point, Matt - like Dad hates going, but at least Matt goes and is a good sport about it.

So we got there a little before lunch, as it was a Sunday, they weren't too busy yet. The weather was nice, sunny, but on the cool side, but that's all we've had lately so I'm happy that at least there is sun! Grace wanted to ride a pony, Eva had no interest but had fun watching. After riding the pony we walked around a bit and then headed out to the Pumpkin Patch, once there Grace ran around trying to find the biggest pumpkin she could pick up.

Our family tradition is, you don't have to be able to carry it (Dad does that) but you have to be able to pick your pumpkin up. So of course Grace who has grown thinks she can get a pumpkin that would need a fork lift to get it home! In true Gracie spirit she kept looking for a little bitty pumpkin for Eva. Eva wasn't interested in looking for pumpkins or getting her picture taken, she wanted to be carried the entire time, and I think she could have cared less about getting a pumpkin. But when Grace found a pumpkin for her - just her size too! She was happy and carried it the entire time:-)
