Our first caterpillar...

Today we were out cleaning my car - Grace said, "it's filthy - from all our dirty shoes!" I had to agree w/ her:-) So we're cleaning away, when see a caterpillar creeping across the driveway. The girls were AMAZED w/ it. So we scooped him up in a plastic bottle where they could see him w/out hurting him - hopefully anyway! Eva would say, "ooooh" and so wanted to be in charge of the bottle... but Grace was certain Eva would kill it or let it loose, letting him loose might have been worse in her mind! They picked little flowers and stuck in there - even showed him off to Debbie when she dropped by to check out the cabinet color vs. the wood trim color. I L O V E listening to Grace say, "caterpillar" - when she learns to say it correctly I think I'll miss the way she says it now:-)

After dinner we let the caterpillar go so he could become a butterfly.... he wasn't moving, Grace was worried that he might be "DUD" - aka: dead. I promised that he wasn't, he was just a little scared in the bottle all alone. When I tossed him out into the grass, she looked everywhere wanting to know where the butterfly was... I said, "he won't turn into a butterfly that fast!"
