Okay so last night Grace said she was FREEZING when we got out of the shower, I gave her my fluffiest Lands End zip up - which she loved. I then put both girls to bed, Grace had fallen asleep but on my way out I checked her forehead and honestly she didn't feel warm. But 30 minutes later she was down stairs saying she didn't feel good - and she had a temp of 103.6! She's up crying, Eva is now up too and we're going through all the meds. Seriously I would like to know how long they give the meds before they expire b/c nearly all of ours was expired - errr! So we gave her Tylenol and Matt ran out for Motrin.
She was up most of the night off and on, depending on when the meds were working, then around 4:00 a.m. she threw up everywhere. The vomiting lasted until about 9:00 a.m., and luckily she hasn't gotten sick since. She's continued to run a fever, which is awful - she'll ask me, "Mommy, why do I have a fire in my head?" I've tired to explain how her body is trying to fight off the germs but she doesn't quite understand.
After the temp had still not gone down much I called the doctors on call number - Celia called back and was great. She said though that a flu was going around lasting 24 to 48 hours (great). I really thought since she'd been sick in Mexico that she wouldn't get the flu again. Hopefully Eva won't get it - Eva did (against my better judgement at the time) got a flu shot. I hate shots, and nearly told them at the last minute we didn't want it, but maybe that will keep her safe. Matt's been trying to make sure everyone stays away from Grace but it's hard to keep Eva anywhere she wants to be, she's sooooo hard headed!
I'll probably end up sick, as I've been the one laying w/ her, rubbing her back, getting vomit and sweat on me (ick!), being coughed on, you name it -- but maybe some special Mommy powers will protect me:-) I can dream right?
